A beautiful day in Asheville, NC. Great to have Michael–adult-son–with us. We are also babysitting for (granddaughter) Maya. It’s a family kind of day–nothing wrong with that. Reading a book by John O’Donoghue, entitled Eternal Echoes: Exploring Our Yearning to Belong. Living in a society where so much family breakdown has occurred, it is not surprising that this theme hits home, literally and figuratively. Much of our popular music touches on this theme. Too much fragmentation at the societal level, and alienation, at the personal level. The problem is accentuated for the homeless, but relates to the emotional trauma that is experienced by many Americans.
