Thinking about my saying: “It is equal important to keep commitment to self and others,” I realize that there may be an inherent conflict between the two forms of commitment. Such a conflict must be resolved to be in an ethically sound place. For example, I may be committed to fulfilling a contract to work for a certain employer, but the job may be undermining my emotional balance or family life. In this case, mental health or family life must take priority, in my way of thinking. This is why moral and or ethical decision-making can be so tricky. I think that we must resolve this kind of conundrum frequently. Life can be very complicated; we must deal with those complications when they arise–to be responsible moral/ethical agents.Thinking about my saying: “It is equal important to keep commitment to self and others,” I realize that there may be an inherent conflict between the two forms of commitment.
