The crazy scene around the Charlotte airport today, with chaotic and confusing construction creating a near-nightmare situation for a newcomer to the airport, reminds me of situations that arise when you are homeless or near to homelessness. It is disoriented to be on the street. The environment is not designed to make it easy, or even tolerable, for a newcomer to negotiate. I remember one rooming house I stayed in where water fell from the ceiling when you tried to take a shower, from the shower above! Another where there was no heater, so I ended up using a hot plate as a heater, with near disastrous results.
Have you dealt with similar challenges, and how did you cope?
