“Isn’t it funny how you never learn to fall” (Jon Bon Jovi). He’s right. We can tout our ability to deal with crisis, but when real crisis hits, it is hard for everyone. No one is invulnerable to getting knocked off their feet. The trick is in the getting back up and resuming the struggle. I have been prone to say, “I’m good in a crisis.” Well, up to a point. When you are confronted with external chaos, the question is, will you add to the chaos or contain your own response to it until you can get back on your own feet. A death in the family is a case in point. Families can be rent asunder by the death of a member; the question, will they be capable of putting the pieces back together. I submit that families split irrevocably are not healthy families…
